Remember when "Should we?" was immediately followed by "Obviously!"
When saying YES and living in the moment required checking zero calendars?
I'm headed on a girls' weekend tomorrow with lifelong friends, and it always reminds me⦠there's a version of us that was once our anthem, our essence, our vibe, our rally cry.
She's about 24. Give or take a few years. Not necessarily in age. But in spirit. π€©
She laughed a little louder. She lingered a little longer. She jumped into the fun just a little bit quicker.
Remember her?
Before the calendar(s) became her boss. Before the body changed in ways we didn't ask for. Before "building a life" turned into a full-time job.
And you know what else was there? There was ease. There was curiosity. There was that delicious, slightly reckless feeling of, "Why not?" (you remember π)
Somewhere along the way, that 24-year-old got a little itsy-bitsy buried. Under the beauty of life. Under responsibility. Under the quiet habit of "just one more thing."
Don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trade a single part of this life. And stillβ¦ I think we miss 24-year-old us sometimes. Because damn, she was Fun AF. ππ»
And I have a deep belief that traveling has a way of reviving her β in the small things, in the moments of quiet freedom, in Paris. π«π·
You walk along the Seine with no destination. You split a dessert because it looks too pretty not to. You watch a street musician and don't check your phone once.
You board a sunset cruise, watch the sky turn pink, and wonder how you almost missed this. π
And you remember 24-year-old you is still in there β like running into an old friend you forgot you loved, and suddenly, she's back in the rotation. β€οΈ
