Welcome to The Postcard,
The first of many little love notes from me to you—and the beginning of something really special.Hi, I’m Sydney.
Mom. Wife. Coach. Traveler. Joy-maker.
And the founder of, Abroad on Purpose.I’ve spent the last 7+ years and over 3,000 hours guiding professionals, execs, and big-hearted go-getters find what’s next. In a career thats spanned Fortune 500 conference rooms to building my own businesses from my kitchen table, it’s been a ride. And honestly? I’m having a ball… I love this work. It’s an honor to walk alongside smart, curious, capable humans as they step into their next chapter.
But, AOP didn’t come from a conference room or my kitchen table.
It bloomed from a spark in Paris—a stirring I felt in my bones.
The kind of knowing that sneaks in quietly… and stays.Back in 2017, I was at a crossroads. My mom had recently passed away, my kids were in school full-time, and I had stepped away from my career at Nike to be home during their early years. It was that rare, quiet stretch after life’s chaos—when the to-do list clears, the noise dies down, and you finally hear yourself say… “Alright, what now?”
Then came an unexpected invitation from a dear friend who led flea market tours to Paris.
A 7 day trip, with 10 other women I’d never met before, in a continent I’d never been to… it was a quick “sign me up!”From the moment I arrived, something shifted.
The rhythm of the city—the café chatter, the sunsets, the way women walked with intention—it all stirred something awake in me. I laughed. I wandered. I listened. I felt sparked by the city and enveloped by the company of thoughtful, funny, women. One evening on a boat tour, floating down the Siene, somewhere between stillness and possibility (and maybe a glass of champagne), the question rose: what was meant to unfold next?
That trip didn’t just give me memories—it gave me a new lens.
It cracked something open. Reignited my energy in a way that I had missed.I returned home and soon later, enrolled in an Executive Coaching Program. And from there, I built a thriving coaching practice—supporting others as they navigated turning points, big decisions, and bold moves of their own. But I never stopped thinking about Paris.
The spark. The shift. The something I couldn’t quite name, but couldn’t forget. And then, almost a decade later in a corporate training room, an icebreaker question landed like a firework:
“If you could create anything, what would it be?”
And there it was—out of my mouth before I’d even caught the thought:
‘I’d take women to the cities of the world.
Wrap them in beauty, brilliance, and bold coaching.
Let them see themselves—clearly, powerfully, and with fresh eyes.
And then give them the tools to go home and actually live what they uncovered.’And just like that, AOP was born.
And I knew it had to begin where it all began—back in the City of Light.
Where I slowed down just enough to hear the question that stirred what might be next.Abroad on Purpose.
The belief that travel isn’t just about escape—it’s about expansion. Now, I invite you to find your own space between stillness and possibility.
To ask your own question—the one that just might change everything.—Sydney
